426 Garage

This is the first 426 in this garage.  In 1964 there was only one A990 car built like this. Here is the other one.  A 1964 Hemi block cast November  17 th is the foundation for the 472-inch powerplant. This Ray Barton Racing Engines Hemi produces 650 hp and is more than adequate to motivate this tribute ride wherever the next show or cruise is located. The block is filled with Steel H-beam rods, a Callies crankshaft, JE custom pistons, and a Comp Cams flat tappet stick.  A pair of factory aluminum  heads were placed over the bores, and a Magnesium cross-ram intake supports a pair of Holley 770 carburetors.

Fellow club member Bob Zelko applied the new PPG Concept Single Stage Bright Ruby Red custom mixed paint to a laser straight body.

 Initial Dyno Session

Listen while this Elephant clears it's throat  pulling down 650 Horsepower & over 600 foot/pounds torque at plus 6000 RPM's.

Stage III Max Wedge

This is the second 426 in the garage. It was an original big block 4-speed car that was upgraded to a Stage III Max Wedge. It has Max Wedge Heads, Dual Carter 3705 carbs on an aluminum cross-ram manifold. On the dyno it made almost 500 HP & just under 600 ft/lbs torque.

This is the engine after the dyno session and just prior to being trasnsplanted to it's new home.

This is the final resting place for the Stage III Max Wedge backed by a 4-speed & Dana rear with 3.73 gears.
